Walking Tour of Walden Pond

April 30, 2023

Twenty classmates traveled to Concord, MA, on April 30, 2023, for a walking tour of Walden Pond and brunch at the Colonial Inn. The event was hosted by classmates Richard Primack and Sharon Weinstein. Richard, a professor of plant ecology at Boston University, led the walk and discussed the relevance of Thoreau’s legacy to current concerns about climate change. He shared the findings of his 20 years of research—building on the observations of Henry David Thoreau (AB 1837)—on the effects of climate change on the wildflowers and trees of Concord, a widely cited example of the biological effects of climate change.
