Rob Shapiro
Rob Shapiro has been a trustee of the Peabody Essex Museum since 1993, serving as president of the board from 2005 to 2020.
Rob Shapiro began his career after a fellowship year from Harvard to Cambridge University as an English teacher at Noble and Greenough School and at Exeter Summer School. He then went to law school, clerked for a federal judge, and joined Ropes & Gray, from which he recently retired. At the firm he headed the Private Client Group, and helped to start and served as CEO of Ropes Wealth Advisors. Rob has served as a trustee of Nobles and of Exeter, as president of the HAA and the Harvard Law School Association, as a member and vice chair of Harvard’s Board of Overseers, and is currently on the Dean’s advisory council of the Radcliffe Institute. He has been a trustee of the Peabody Essex Museum since 1993, serving as president for fifteen years. Rob is currently the board chair of the Handel and Haydn Society.
