Leslie Tuttle
Leslie Tuttle is a social documentary photographer. She has worked as a photojournalist, curator, archivist and videographer.
Leslie’s career as a photojournalist began in Turkey in 1974 where she spent four years working for a development foundation, learning how to walk into unknown situations and put together stories, in words and pictures, about the people involved. Returning to the States, Leslie worked for Oxfam America, documenting a wide range of women’s economic development efforts in India, Asia and Africa. Then, to be closer to home while starting a family, she got an MBA so she could address the organizational issues that so often plague not-for-profits. With her husband, Larry Susskind, she helped to found the Consensus Building Institute. Next, she returned to her true calling, as a photojournalist, curator and archivist for Partners In Health. She followed that by photographing a book, New Hampshire Women Farmers: Pioneers of the Local Food Movement (with Helen Brody ). Recently, Leslie trained as a videographer at Emerson University and has begun making short videos to help organizations present themselves online. This is her new direction!
