Father David J. Cavanagh

 

Father David J. Cavanagh grew up in Cranston RI, graduated from Cranston High East, then took a post graduate year at Phillips Academy Andover. As a member of the Harvard Class of 1972 and an Eliot House resident, he was a Government concentrator and played varsity hockey. He received a law degree from Boston College Law School (JD ’76) and practiced law in Boston, specializing in litigation, from 1976 to 1978. He then studied for the priesthood and pursued a doctorate in Canon Law (JCD ’86) from the University of Navarre in Spain. Father David was ordained a priest for Opus Dei in 1985 and has since held pastoral assignments within Opus Dei. He served as a chaplain at Massachusetts General Hospital from 1989 to 1997 and is currently chaplain at a student center in Cambridge run by Opus Dei.
