Mildred (Millie) Hooper LaFontaine, MD:
Millie Hooper LaFontaine lived in North House, first in Holmes Hall, and then in Jordan K, one of 3 cooperative houses at Radcliffe. She majored in English, and didn’t decide until close to graduation that she wanted to go to medical school. She spent a postgrad year at Harvard taking pre-med courses, then went to Duke Medical School, graduating in 1977. She completed her internship and neurology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, then worked as a general neurologist in the Philadelphia area for close to 10 years.
In 1990 she and her family moved to Concord NH, she continued as a clinical neurologist with special interests in dementia, stroke, and medical ethics, until her retirement in 2017. She and her husband Mike have 3 sons and 3 (soon to be 5) grandchildren. She stayed sane during the worst of the pandemic writing for her local paper, and stays busy volunteering, gardening, cooking, and hiking or walking as often as she can.
