Wesley Wm. Posvar

Wes Posvar graduated from Harvard College with an AB in government in 1972 and finished his MBA in marketing management from the Wharton School in 1974. He spent 29 years in the corporate world in a number of marketing and general management positions with a manufacturer of personal protective equipment. In 2006, he began exploring leadership work in the nonprofit sector, an activity that was interrupted by the 2007 diagnosis of his wife, Palmer, with fronto-temporal dementia (FTD), an early-onset dementia. Embracing the role of spousal care partner, he dedicated the next 12 years to their shared journey with this incurable, neurodegenerative illness. In early 2019, at the age of just 67, his wife of 40 years passed away from her FTD.

Posvar remains active in the Community, serving as chair of the Fox Chapel Borough (PA) Park Commission and a member of the FCB Planning Commission. He was one of the founders of the Fox Chapel Parks Conservancy. He is president of the Allegheny HYP Club in Pittsburgh, formerly known as the Harvard-Yale-Princeton Club—formed in 1930 as the only private club serving all three alumni groups. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Harvard Club of Western Pennsylvania.

Publications: None beyond Red Book submissions. But a care partner-focused book may be forthcoming someday…
